Wednesday Nights Heat Up With Learning and Fellowship
The Wednesday Night Bible Studies begin on September 15th with an extended study of the controversial and misunderstood Revelation to John. I’ve chosen to kick off the series with Revelation precisely because it typifies our modern struggle with our ancient sacred texts and how we interpret the Scriptures in a world that is increasingly spiritual but not religious.
The Wednesday Night Bible Study is meant to provide an atmosphere of relaxed learning as well as an opportunity to meet and form relationships with other members of our church and beyond. The threefold goal of these weekly gatherings is to deepen our understanding of God in Christ through our rich Scriptural heritage, to begin to understand the daily movements of our lives in the context of God’s intentions for us, and to expand our connections with one another as a community of faith.
The Bible study is supported by The Interpretation Bible Studies series and unfolds each week in the context of teaching, fellowship, and exuberant discussion---and childcare is provided.
We will begin our study of Revelation on Wednesday September 15th with 11 sessions continuing through December 8th. Signing up is required in order to obtain the curriculum and because of the structure of the program regular attendance is a necessity (knowing that of course conflicts occasionally do occur, it is important to commit to regular participation.) The cost of the book is $13.00. Scholarships to cover the cost of the book are available. Sign up begins the first week of August by contacting Alice by email or at 206-522-7144 ext. 300 and by clipboard on Sunday mornings.
Hope to see you there!
In the Sunday Adult Forum series, we will hear about the scriptural foundations of Christian community; tools for communication, decision-making and stewardship; spiritual practices; and ongoing plans for this parish community.
